Power outages trimmed, hundreds of customers in Carson City without electricity from wind storm
UPDATE: NV Energy is working to restore power as quickly and safely as possible for affected customers, according to a news release Sunday morning. Additional resources are coming in from other NV Energy regions to assist crews already working.
Outages are caused by the heavy wind throughout Northern Nevada during the evening and overnight. Northern Nevada experienced a nearly 18-hour high wind event. The wind damage includes both poles and wires down in multiple locations. Go here for the latest list of local outages.
NV Energy reports that Carson City has the brunt of people in northern Nevada without power. There are 19 outages affecting 502 customers as of 10:30 a.m. Throughout Northern Nevada, there are 49 outages affecting 2,471 customers, as of 10:30 a.m.

As of 8 a.m. Sunday morning, NV Energy reports 560 customers without power following a fierce wind storm that knocked down dozens of trees and power lines causing outages throughout the Carson City area. In the Reno area, more than 6,100 are without power.
Cleanup continues throughout the region, after winds anywhere from 60 to 70 mph or more toppled trees, blew down fences, took out siding and knocked down storage sheds. Winds gust of 71 mph was recorded in Carson City and 89 mph in Washoe Valley.
As far as road ways, tree crews are out cutting and hauling the downed trees around town. Major roadways are clear, with some delays earlier on I-580 in Washoe Valley. Chains and snow tires are required over US-50 Spooner, SR 207 Kingsbury Grade, and over SR-431 over Mount Rose Highway. Check NVroads.com for the latest road conditions.
