One dead, 3 injured in avalanche at Lake Tahoe ski resort
TAHOE CITY — An avalanche Wednesday morning at Palisades Tahoe ski area resulted in one fatality, the Placer County Sheriff's Office says, with three injuries, according to the resort.
Olympic Valley Fire Department responded to Palisades Tahoe at Lake Tahoe's west shore for word of an avalanche in the ski area. they contacted ski patrol, who confirmed an avalanche in the GS Bowl of KT 22, and began recruiting allied agencies and pooling resources in support of Palisades Ski Patrol.
At approximately 9:30 a.m., the avalanche happened, according to a Palisades Tahoe report. No further missing persons have been reported. More than 100 Palisades personnel participated in a beacon search, and two probe lines have been completed. The search has ended, according to PCSO.
Placer County Sheriff’s Office, Olympic Valley Fire, Palisades Tahoe, Tahoe Nordic Search and Rescue were activated along with allied agency partners and assets from the west side.

The avalanche debris field is approximately 150 feet wide, 450 feet long and 10 feet deep.
This was the first day of operations for the season at that lift.
