Mother explains family adoptions in Carson City's KNVC My Soul University Radio Hour interview

Kerstin Lindquist appeared to have it all. A handsome husband, a job as a television news reporter and a house at the beach. But inside something was missing; a child. Kerstin and her husband longed for a family. Yet despite being young and healthy, the couple was unable to conceive.
“It felt surreal being 28 years old and not being able to get pregnant. I became an outsider, unable to join this club of women who could easily get pregnant and have babies,” Lindquist says. Now a host at QVC and the mother of three, Kerstin is open about her struggles, her path to creating a family, and how she found eventual joy.

After a miscarriage and unsuccessful fertility treatments, Lindquist and her husband turned to adoption. “That moment when I was called and found out that the birth mother had chosen us was perhaps the happiest moment of my life. I felt like all this weight had been lifted,” she said. What she didn’t know was that they would soon find themselves the parents of two girls, born five months apart, because she had also “miraculously” become pregnant.

She is a passionate, moving storyteller who has travelled through grueling challenges, had tidal waves crash on her shore, and through it all uncovered how the struggle itself added such vibrancy and appreciation for her precious day-to-day moments with her family.”
The couple went on to adopt again. Lindquist is a strong advocate for adoption. “I tell people you can and you will love an adopted child just as much as one that came from your body. That love is amazing, it's such a passion and if people are worried that they you can't love a child that they adopted as much as one that they gave birth to they are 100% wrong. That love transcends all blood and DNA. She goes on to say, “Goodness. I look at my kids and my husband and where we are now and how we're all together and I couldn't imagine a more perfect group of people doing this whole life thing together.”
Along with her hosting duties at QVC, Lindquist is a certified life coach, and the author of several books including “Where’s My Crown for Acting Like Everything is Fine? A Guide to Royally Surviving Life’s Waiting Periods” and “Five Months Apart”.
