Muscle Powered Saturday hike to Spooner Lake to Marlette Lake
This is the rescheduled hike that was originally listed as Oct. 6. It is an intermediate hike to Marlette Lake. Approximately 10 miles, round-trip, with time for lunch and spectacular views of Marlette Lake. Elevation gain is 700 feet. For fit and experienced hikers.
The trailhead begins from Spooner Lake parking area and heads north towards Marlette Lake on North Canyon Trail. This part of the trip is a dirt road, and approximately one mile.
Marlette Trail begins at the intersection of the road and the trailhead. Hikers will split from North Canyon Road and continue up Marlette Lake Trail for four miles with a 700 foot elevation gain to the lake.
Marlette Lake Trail is a single-track trail that leads to beautiful vistas over the lake. The entire activity will be approximately seven-plus hours; which includes transportation from Carson City, plus hike and lunch time.
Meet at 8 a.m. at U.S. Highway 50 West Park and Ride to carpool or caravan.
Sorry, no dogs on our weekend hikes. If you come on your own in the future, dogs are required to be leashed on this trail. Required: Closed-toed hiking shoes, a minimum two quarts or more of water, and lunch and snacks. Hiking poles, sunscreen, and hat are highly recommended.
