This traditional event began over 30 years ago as a group of young Republicans, headed by Marie Bensinger, were looking for a means of attracting interest in their newly formed organization. It was taken over by the Carson City Republican Women’s club in 1982.
Immediate Past President, Sandy Markoe said “This event has traditionally served as a pre-parade gathering point for the state of Nevada’s office holders and potential candidates, offering them an opportunity to visit with the many attendees on a personal basis. Everyone is welcome. In fact we encourage Democrats to come and meet our Republican officials and residents.”
It’s an easy walk from the Governor’s Mansion to the parade route, offering everyone an opportunity to enjoy some of Carson’s older streets and historic homes on what should be a beautiful fall morning.
