The Carson City Airport will hold an Open House on Saturday, June 10, 2017 from 8:00 A.M. until 4:00 P.M. The event takes place at the Carson City Airport, 2600 College Parkway, Carson City, Nevada. Entry to the event is FREE to the public and draws over 6,000 visitors. The community event explores the exciting world of aviation and aerospace including: interactive displays, historical aircraft, military equipment, flybys, plane and helicopter demonstrations, food and beverages, and many more educational and family activities.

Throughout the Open House event, visitors can see historic aircraft, interactive displays and activities geared to educate and energize people, young and old, on the exciting world of aviation and aerospace. On hand will be the Cactus Air Force, RE/MAX hot air balloon (tethered rides available), Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Ground Bound and Aircraft rides, just to name of few.

The open house event kicks off at 8:00 A.M. with a pancake breakfast for purchase provided by the EAA. The EAA-Young Eagles program will be taking sign-ups for free, future plane rides for children. Flybys begin at 9:30 A.M. and include an exhilarating field of planes: P-51 Mustang, Tootsie, A-26 and B-25 Bombers, T-6 Texan, T-33 Shooting Star, F-86 Sabre Jet, and many more vintage aircraft and war birds. Planes/helicopters will be landing throughout the day for public viewing, and visitors can even shoot a machine gun (simulated).

Tim Rowe, Carson City Airport’s General Manager, had this to say, “The Carson City Airport will once again open its gates for this outstanding community event. Thousands of area residents attend annually, and we are sure they will enjoy this year’s lineup of programming. As in past years, there will be plenty of historical military aircraft and vehicles, as well as interactive displays, on hand for the crowd to experience. This year, we have partnered with Cactus Air Force Wings and Wheels Museum, and Mountain West Aviation in order to host this high caliber event for our visitors.”

The purpose of the Carson City Airport Open House is to raise community awareness of the importance of aviation and aerospace for Carson City and Nevada’s economy. The economic impact of the airport to the local community is estimated at over $30 million annually. Additionally, the event will focus on educating and encouraging our young people to consider careers in the areas of robotics, aviation and aerospace.
