WNFC Coyotes Battle for 1st Place Saturday Night

Event Date:
April 21, 2018 - 5:00pm

Western Nevada FC Coyotes of Carson City return home this weekend for their battle for first place in the league. WNFC will host Napa Sporting SC for a 5 p.m. kick off at Moana Springs Recreational Complex.

Napa Sporting SC is currently standing in first with 13 points and 6 games played. Western Nevada FC Coyotes are in second place with 12 points and 4 matches played.

With a win this weekend, the Coyotes could move into 1st place alone and will still have 2 games in hand to Napa Sporting SC.

The recreation complex is located at 240 W Moana Lane, Reno.

GM and Head Coach Ian Hill is well aware of the importance of this match. This is what he had to say, “Napa sporting SC is an outstanding team. They're in first place and they've got all the tools ... They're technically sound, they're well-coached, and well-organized. Napa presents a tremendous challenge, but I think our keys to winning are playing our game. We need to press high, we need to play quick, and we need to do it for 90 minutes! The bottom line is, we have a chance to win the game and take control of the conference. It'll take our best effort to do so.”

Coach Hill coaches a fast and furious style of soccer that WNFC is once again hoping to increase the intensity of this Saturday night for the battle of first place.

David Booth has been stellar this season in net, and is greatly looking forward to the challenge Saturday night. This is what Booth is looking for in Saturday’s match, “We have been on a great run of form and coming off a big win away in Oregon, the team morale is sky high and everyone is buzzing. The work never stops though and we are preparing and ready to go for the top of the table clash on Saturday night. We want to remain undefeated and we don’t want to concede, you can expect some fast and furious football, just like the coyote way!”

The back line up to this point this season has been extremely disciplined and performing at a very high level. A key part to this is the leadership and efforts that Emmanuel Medina brings to the back line.

Medina had a few things that he wanted to share, “Saturday is a big game. Not just coming out victorious, but showing our character and ability to handle pressure when the lights shine. I have no doubt that we, the Coyotes, will do what needs to be done.”

Medina shows very high confidence heading into the match and knows the importance of not just this match, but every match in the league. He is challenging his teammates to live up to this moment and have no regrets following the match.

Another key piece to the backline this season has been Mitchell Brickman. Mitchell is a very strong and disciplined defender that is a huge 50/50 ball winner for the Coyotes. Here are his remarks regarding the first place match Saturday Night, “We are rolling into Saturday with great form and I am confident in the group to come out and have a strong performance. We have been putting in the work on and off the training ground and Saturday will reflect that. We are developing great chemistry amongst the group and you can really feel it when we come out onto the pitch. Overall, I am really excited to get on the pitch with the lads, earn the 3 points we have been striving for and continue our run of form!”

The match Saturday is sure to be one not to miss. If you are unable to make it out to the match, the game will also be live streamed. The link can be found on the teams Facebook page here. Be sure to shoot the page a like when visiting to show support to the boys.
