Carson City Symphony's Strings in the Schools Spring Concert
Strings in the Schools, Carson City Symphony's after-school program, presents its 2012 Spring Concert, on Tuesday, April 3, 6:30 p.m. at the Carson City Community Center, 851 E. William St., Carson City. About 80 string players, including public-, private-, and home-schooled students from the Carson City area, will perform several pieces, from classics to folk and fiddle tunes. Admission is free.
The concert, directed by Carson City Symphony's Education Director, Sue Jesch, features beginning violins in grades two to five; a youth string orchestra for all ages, including adult mentors; and STRAZZ, advanced jazz and fiddle ensemble.
"These young musicians play to enthusiastic crowds." said David Bugli, Music Director of the Carson City Symphony. "You will be entertained and impressed with how well they play and the great variety of musical styles they have learned."
Strings in the Schools, an educational program of the Carson City Symphony Association, is now in its seventh year. It is supported in part by grants from the Nevada Arts Council, a state agency, and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency; Partnership Carson City; Sierra Philharmonic League; and private donations. For more information, call director Sue Jesch at 775-450-5584.
