Carson City-based ComputerCorps founder, CEO Ron Norton to be honored at Golden Bowtie Award Banquet; tickets available
The Men's Caucus of the Carson City Democrats periodically presents its Golden Bow Tie Award to a man who has made invaluable contributions to the community, and in their view deserves recognition as a worthy male role model.
Ron Norton fits that description perfectly. Ron is founder and CEO of ComputerCorps, an internationally recognized 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to providing access to computer technology and skills training for under-served families, at the same time reducing electronic waste (eWaste) in our landfills to a minimum.
The banquet honoring Ron Norton and the ComputerCorps volunteers he inspires will be in the Gold Dust West's Pinon-Sage Room on Saturday, March 9, 2024. Registration begins at 5:00 pm. A cash bar will be available for alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. The buffet will be available from 6:00 to 7:30. Entrees will include a chef's Prime Rib carving station with Au Jus, Baked Salmon with Dill Hollandaise Sauce, and Chicken Cordon Bleu with Tarragon Supreme Sauce. Sides include fresh seasonal vegetables, tossed green salad, two other hand-crafted salads, several specialty desserts, and fresh brewed coffee.
Between 5:00 and 7:00 Peter Supersano will set the banquet-worthy tone with a beautiful piano performance. Peter is an extremely talented musician with an impressive repertoire spanning a variety of musical genres.
The program begins at 7:00. Keynote speaker will be Carson City Mayor Lori Bagwell. Ron Norton will then tale the floor to narrate a PowerPoint presentation, which will highlight the myriad of community services provided by his organization and its volunteers. After the formal presentation, Ron and ComputerCorps volunteers in attendance will be presented with the etched glass Golden Bowtie Award for 2024.
By Monday morning, March 4th, Gold Dust West must have our final head count so the chef can order needed ingredients. If you plan to attend, you need to let us know. You can either purchase tickets online through ActBlue (using the link above) or you can pay at the door with cash, check or credit card. Either way, we need your RSVP right away, either by emailing me at richdunn@aol.com or calling me at 775-230-4989.
Please note that ActBlue is a Democratic fundraising platform. This event is not a fundraiser, so please disregard all of ActBlue's requests for donations, contributions and tips. We use ActBlue for ticket sales because it can collect reservation money, send out confirmation emails, and provides us with an up-to-date attendance list.
Allow me to emphasize once again that this event is not fundraiser, witnessed by the fact that neither our keynote speaker nor the principal honoree is a registered Democrat. This isn't about politics or political parties at all. It's a public acknowledgment of a man and an organization which represents our community at its best.
