Explore the World at Your Library: Northern Nepal
Explore the World @ Your Library: Northern Nepal - A Journey of a Lifetime
Carson City Library presents Explore Northern Nepal @ Your Library on Wednesday, March 4, at 6:30 p.m. in the Library Digitorium. Local resident Angela Sullivan travelled to the Tibetan Buddhist heart of the upper Mustang Region of northern Nepal with her 17 year old son and a group of Western students. They journeyed with her Dharma teacher and a team of Sherpas, as they trekked for a month along ancient pilgrimage routes. They covered over 250 miles and passes as high as 17,700 feet. Their route began in Kathmandu as they followed the Annapurna Himal and then veered north into the high and arid Tibetan plateau. The jewel of the trip was the time spent in the ancient walled city of Lo Mantang, the royal seat of the Kingdom of Lo.
