GRAMMY Drummer John Riley in Concert with the RJO
GRAMMY award-winning drummer and educator John Riley will share the stage with the 17-piece Reno Jazz Orchestra (RJO) on Sunday, February 10 at Nightingale Concert Hall located at the University of Nevada, Reno. The concert starts at 2:00 p.m. and will include a variety of jazz and blues music.
Throughout his prestigious career, Riley toured and recorded with the famed One O’clock Lab Band and the Woody Herman Band. Following those great experiences, Riley returned to New York and began freelancing with a broad spectrum of world-class musicians which include Stan Getz, Milt Jackson, Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie, John Scofield, Bob Mintzer, Gary Peacock, Mike Stern, Joe Lovano, the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra, the Carnegie Hall Jazz Band, John Patitucci, Bob Berg, and many others.
The Reno Jazz Orchestra is a 17-piece contemporary big band based in Northern Nevada for over 20 years. The group includes musicians who have performed with acts such as Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., Elvis Presley, Natalie Cole, and Luciano Pavarotti. Members have traveled the world with legendary performers.
