Carson City firefighters were called Monday night to the 700 block of Roop Street for a van that was fully involved in fire that was threatening nearby structures. Firefighters were able to douse the flames before they spread.

A 46-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday in the 1800 block of North Edmonds on a gross misdemeanor charge of battery on a police officer, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said.
