Several Carson High School art students earned top honors at the Nevada Artists Association Student Art Show last month. Senior Serenity Rodriguez placed first in the 3D category for her piece “Buried in Flowers,” while freshman Abbey Ortega earned third place for “Comic Book Art” and an honorable mention for “Cat Caught Fish” in the 2D category.


Other CHS students earned honorable mentions including Angel Hernandez Gonzalez for “La Casa De Tuti Fruity” in the 2D category, Chelsea Empeno for “Creative Immersion Through Traditional Values” in the 2D category, Lillian Marler for “Freshly Baked” in the 3D category, Mabel Wacker for “Coral Brain” in the 3D category and Chloe Clark for “Celebration” in the 3D category.









The Spring 2026 High School Art Exhibition features a total of 69 entries by art students from Carson, Dayton, Douglas and Whittell high schools. Individual pieces will continue to be featured until Friday, May 8, at the Nevada Artists Association Gallery, 449 West King Street in Carson City, Tuesday through Sunday, 12 noon to 4 p.m.
This inaugural exhibition showcases artwork created by high school students, providing them with the opportunity to display their pieces in a professional gallery setting while inviting the broader community to celebrate their creativity and achievements.
The exhibition is free and features a wide variety of art including ceramics, mixed media, drawing and painting.

All Carson High student-artists include Raena Ailes, Adolfo Arreola, Eva Bell, Karla April Brena Gutierrez, Adriana Castillo, Sylis Chalmers, Ava Clark, Chloe Clark, Camille Cuneo, Gloria Dooley, Chelsea Empeno, Owen Gould, Karla Gutierrez, Angel Hernandez Gonzalez, Payton Madera, Nadalee Maldonado, Lillian Marler, Isiah Marquez, Cruz Marquez Mariscal, Zoey McMenamy, Clare Mulvihill, Abbey Ortega, Paris Rangel, Charlotte Roberts, Serenity Rodriguez, Josie Sajec, Josie Thompson, Mabel Wacker and Rameen Wahabzada.
Additionally, the Nevada Artists Association is taking last minute applications for its $1,000 Art Scholarship. The student applicant must be a senior artist looking to showcase talent and take the next step toward their artistic goals.
