Carson City area weather: Light showers possible then clearing into Christmas weekend

Sunshine with some cloud cover was a nice welcome to the first day of winter around the Carson City region Wednesday, and the holiday weekend should continue being clear on Friday into Sunday before another series of storm systems develop, according to the National Weather Service.
Nevada Appeal building sells for $11.3 million, to be used by Dayton aerospace company

According to Dickson Commercial Group (DCG), Sierra Nevada Media Group has sold the 90,056-square-foot industrial building located at 580 Mallory Way in Carson City for $11.3 million.
The property has been home to the Nevada Appeal since 2002.

Do Drop In is a rural center for independent living, which has been serving people with disabilities and the homeless in our community for over two decades.
Nevada governor proposes state worker raises, major boost to K-12 in budget he’ll hand to Lombardo

Gov. Steve Sisolak has designed a budget that proposes 10 percent raises for state employees in the coming fiscal year and 5 percent in the next, although his Republican successor, Gov.-elect Joe Lombardo, and the Legislature will be able to make their own changes to the proposal.
Carson City area Rotarians adopt senior citizens for holiday giving

The Rotary Club of Carson City is making the holidays a bit brighter for some senior citizens in our area. The club has "adopted" 20 seniors as part of its Holiday Senior Project.

If you have not seen the holiday light display in downtown Carson City or at the Governor’s Mansion, pack up the family car to come downtown to stroll through the capital complex before the lights are packed away.

Carson City Fire Department, sheriff's deputies and the Nevada Highway Patrol were called Thursday afternoon to a single vehicle crash that happened on I-580 near Fairview.
Carson City area weather: Dry and mild over holiday weekend; windy and stormy next week

A weak storm system will bring chances for light rain and snow showers and increased winds in higher elevations into early Friday morning with dry and mild conditions returning through the Christmas holiday weekend, National Weather Service forecasters said.
A more active weather will return next week through the start of 2023, with potential for several storm systems bringing valley rain and mountain snow, along with plenty of wind.
