With rise in winter-related fatalities, Forest Service reminds public land users to recreate responsibly

In light of recent tragic events and the 21 fatalities during the 2020-2021 winter season, the USDA Forest Service wants to remind recreationists to think ahead, plan, and prepare for their outings on National Forest System lands and to recreate responsibly.

Carson City arrests: Driver who 'shot past' deputy with lights off jailed for reckless driving

A 34-year-old man was arrested early Wednesday morning for suspicion of misdemeanor reckless driving and driving with a suspended license, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office arrest report.

Climate Lobby and Citizens’ Climate Education will hold a March 2 meeting on Zoom. Our purpose is to develop and implement activities that provide accurate information about climate change and what can be done to mitigate the effects of climate change.

Agencies work on solution for sunken and abandoned boats on Lake Tahoe

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE — For over 100 years, some boat owners were known to scuttle their boats in Lake Tahoe instead of paying for dismantling or removal. In the case of the SS Tahoe, it was meant to be an underwater museum near the shore of Glenbrook in 1940 after spending years docked and rusting in Tahoe City, but a miscalculation of the slope caused the boat to sink to almost 400 feet under water. An underwater trail highlights boats and barges sunk in Emerald Bay.
