Carson City emergency crews evacuate apartment complex unit after crash severs gas line

UPDATE 144PM: Hot Springs Road has reopened to traffic in both directions following an all-clear by Southwest Gas. The cause of the crash into the building, which severed a gas line, is under investigation.

UPDATE 1:08PM: Carson City Fire Department advises Southwest Gas was able to shut off the line. Occupants of 609 Hot Springs Road that were evacuated are being let back in.

Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies responded Wednesday afternoon to a vehicle crash into an apartment complex building that has resulted in a gas leak.

While all three metro areas in Nevada continued to see job gains in July, Carson City was among the best, having an increase of 800 jobs, or 2.8 percent growth since June, with the manufacturing sector climbing the most by 100 jobs or 3.8 percent, according to figures released Wednesday by the Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation.

A 23-year-old inmate at Carson City Jail was booked Tuesday for felony attempted escape by a prisoner and gross misdemeanor damage to jail property, according to a sheriff's office arrest report.

Quad county, Carson City COVID-19 Tuesday briefing: 11 new cases, 13 recoveries

Carson City Health and Human Services is reporting Tuesday, August 25, 2020 that there are 11 new cases and 13 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County region. This brings the total number of cases to 963, with 867 recoveries and fifteen deaths, 81 cases remain active.

From the original application, it is evident that these fees were increased in order to offset the $5 million dollar revenue decrease requested. Now, NV Energy seeks to fulfill an additional $120 million revenue decrease. While this reduction in revenue benefits residential customers in the short-term, the recent request continues to penalize Northern Nevadans from making needed repairs to their homes electrical systems.
