"The Gilded Visitor” by Trent Pitsenbarger was the first place winner in the October Carson City Photo Club competition.

As the season shifts and brings the return of cooler weather, local photographers used their outdoor instincts to capture insects doing what they do best during the spring and summer for this month’s Carson City Photo Club competition.

With a three-way tie for third place, the winning photos and photographers are:

First Place: “The Gilded Visitor” Trent Pitsenbarger (see above photo)

Second Place: “Bee Still” Jim Donato

Third Place: “Penny” Marci Vest

Third Place: “Collecting Pollen” Shirley Rash

Third Place: “Yellow and Black” MaryLou Schindler

Winner’s Choice: “Little Friend” Belinda Nemeth

The Carson City Photo Club meets at 6 p.m. on the first Tuesday of every month except in December inside the Ormsby Room of the Carson City Sheriff’s Office, 911 East Musser Street (use west entrance).

All levels of photographers are welcome. The theme for November is “Best/Favorite of the Year.”
