Kids & Horses of Minden is hosting its fall sessions for Connected Horse Workshops. The workshops are 2.5 hours, once a week, on Saturday, for 3 consecutive weeks. The first session begins on Oct. 3, and spaces are limited.
These powerful workshops help to support individuals with memory loss and their care partners. Based on research conducted at UC Davis and Stanford Universities, these workshops resulted in significant improvement in mood, increased positive perception of social support, and greater awareness and appreciation of the relationship between the person with memory loss and their care partner.
The power of the human horse connection helps participants to feel relaxed, confident and more happy in the moment. It can also teach self compassion, stress reduction strategies, communication skills and mindfulness practices.
We do request that you are able to attend all 3 consecutive sessions when you register. Prior experience with horses is not necessary to participate. Participants engage with horses from the ground; there is no riding. Participants must be ambulatory and willing to participate as a pair in the workshop. There is no cost to participate in the program, however, donations are gratefully accepted.

Kids & Horses also hosts a monthly Memory Café on the 4th Monday of every month. This program begins at 10am and goes until 11:30 am. Each café follows a general flexible format, but provides engaging activities and important social connections. The Memory Café also offers connections with community resources, and of course, time with our amazing therapy horses!
This program is going into its second year and continues to draw new faces, as well as folks who return consistently each month. Join us and build friendships and meaningful connections with others in the community. There are often a few spaces open, but reservations are required as we are limited to 10 individuals and their care providers.
