A 19-year-old man was arrested Monday for suspicion of gross misdemeanor conspiracy to commit petit larceny and misdemeanor obstructing, according to a Carson City Sheriff’s Office booking report.

Deputies were dispatched to a larceny report at a convenience store in the 3900 block of Highway 50 East. The reporting party advised two males stole a case of beer. Deputies arrived and spoke with the reporting party (RP) who stated two males walked out with an 18 pack of beer. The total price was $24.20. The RP was able to take a photo of the suspect vehicle and license plate.

Deputies learned the vehicle was registered to an address on Woodside Drive, arrived at the location and spoke to a woman who stated the vehicle is being used by her grandson, who she said lives on North Edmonds. She provided a address.

Deputies went to the apartment and and from the outside looking through a wind observed two males drinking the beer and singing, the report states.

A deputy knocked on the door. One of the males walked over to the window. A deputy identified himself as a CCSO deputy. Both males ran back to the living room and began to pick up beer cans. Both males then ran toward the hallway.

Deputies continued to knock on the door. A relative nearby stated she could get her nephew to come to the door. She knocked on the door and a male opened the door. One male was sitting on the couch and the main suspect in the beer theft was highly intoxicated as he spoke to his relative, the report states.

He began to push the relative out of the door way. A deputy took a photo of the suspect, who then became upset. He stated he didn’t have to talk with CCSO deputies, the report states.

The suspect continued to argue with his relative and would not allow CCSO deputies to talk as he was yelling over everyone. A deputy informed the suspect about his worried grandma who was downstairs. The suspect then walked out of the apartment and looked downstairs. The man was detained and began to resist officers attempting to place cuffs on him.

During the investigation, the suspect was positively identified as one of the males who walked out with the beer. As he was being arrested, he yelled multiple times to the other male to not say anything and persuaded the other male not to cooperate. He was arrested, and taken to the hospital where he was medically cleared and then booked into jail. Bail: $1,137.
