As Melissa Bonilla prepares to graduate from Carson High School, she will leave behind an impressive record of academic and extracurricular accomplishments and a clear vision for her future.
With an outstanding 4.95 GPA, Melissa ranks in the top 10 of her graduating class. She has challenged herself throughout high school by taking numerous AP and Honors courses, while balancing a busy schedule filled with leadership, athletics, work and community service.

Melissa has made a tremendous impact on the Carson High School community through her involvement in student organizations. She serves as President of HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) and Secretary of FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America). She is also a member of National Honor Society, National Honor Society for High School Scholars and the Latino Club. Through these organizations, Melissa has given back to her community by donating blood, helping with Toys for Tots and volunteering with several other organizations throughout Carson City.
Melissa has also embraced opportunities to explore her passion for healthcare through the Career Pathway program. She is currently taking a Medical Assistant course, gaining hands-on knowledge and experience that will help prepare her for her future in medicine.
After graduation, Melissa plans to major in Biochemistry and continue on to medical school, with the goal of becoming a neurologist. Her passion for this field comes from her desire to help individuals who have experienced paralysis, spinal cord injuries or other spinal conditions. She hopes to one day make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients and families facing these challenges.
Even with her demanding academic schedule, Melissa has found time to be a student-athlete, competing in both soccer and track and field. She has also worked throughout high school, making her accomplishments even more remarkable. Balancing school, athletics, leadership, employment and community service requires tremendous dedication, and Melissa has consistently risen to the challenge.
As Melissa begins the next chapter of her journey, the Carson High School community celebrates all she has accomplished and the incredible potential she carries with her. We are proud to recognize Melissa Bonilla and wish her continued success as she pursues her dreams in medicine. We cannot wait to see the difference she will make in the lives of others.
