The Carson City Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) proudly acknowledges the extraordinary efforts and unwavering dedication of the Volunteers of the Carson City Sheriff’s Office. These individuals play an essential role in enhancing our operations and making a significant impact in our community.

Over the next several months, CCSO will spotlight the invaluable contributions our volunteers make to the organization, emphasizing their vital role within our law enforcement community. Their commitment and passion are fundamental in helping us achieve our mission every day.

During 2025, our volunteers have selflessly dedicated an impressive 22,098 hours of service to CCSO. This remarkable contribution translates to a salary cost savings of over $568,250, allowing our non-sworn employees to focus on critical tasks and enabling our sworn personnel to prioritize higher calls for service.

Volunteers In Partnership with the Sheriff – VIPS

In January 2026, we will specifically highlight the hard work and dedication of our VIPS Patrol Officers. These dedicated individuals manage an impressive array of responsibilities, starting their day by ensuring interdepartmental mail is efficiently picked up and delivered among CCSO, Courts, Dispatch, Civil & Records, and DMV.

Their extensive duties include:
– Taking CCSO patrol vehicles for service and returning them post-service
– Conducting numerous VIN checks for the public
– Checking on citizens’ homes during vacations
– Reporting suspicious activities or circumstances
– Towing vehicles when necessary
– Providing traffic control

– Conducting regular patrols of neighborhoods and parking lots
– Assisting with special events & community engagement
– Checking reports of abandoned or blighted vehicles within the Carson City community

The VIPS Patrol Officers are an invaluable resource for CCSO. Their assistance enables our deputies and employees to dedicate more time to proactive law enforcement duties and community engagement.

Additionally, our VIPS Patrol Volunteers contribute to traffic safety by regularly relocating the mobile radar “Speed Warning Trailer” throughout Carson City, encouraging drivers to slow down and enhance their driving habits.

During 2025, our VIPS Patrol Volunteers have selflessly dedicated approximately 3,298 hours of their time to CCSO.

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office is immensely grateful for the contributions of our volunteers, which are integral to our mission. We look forward to recognizing their hard work and the positive impact they have on our community in the months to come.
