Showers and thunderstorms are expected to continue through Friday around the Carson City region, bringing some water ponding along the local roads, according to the National Weather Service.
A Flood Watch remains in effect until 11 p.m. Friday for much of the region due to the potential for flooding and debris flows from recent burn scars.
Carson City Public Works crews were seen around town this morning cleaning drainages of debris, otherwise there have not been any reports of flooding in the city, according to dispatch. Motorists are urged to drive with their lights on during stormy weather.
The wet weather does bring a chance for thunder, lightning and small hail, which was reported south of Carson City earlier this morning.
Snow is also possible in the higher elevations of the Sierra and may impact Mt. Rose, Carson, Ebbetts, Sonora, and Tioga passes.
While the wet weather has gotten the Memorial Day holiday weekend off to a soggy start, forecasters say the chances of rain should lessen beginning Saturday.
Warmer and drier conditions will return for the remainder of the holiday weekend, although a few showers and thunderstorms remain possible, according to the weather service.
