Another chance Monday for heaving rain and thunderstorms in the region has prompted the National Weather Service to issue a flash flood watch for Carson City and surrounding counties.
NWS forecasters advise again that the potential exists Monday for thunderstorms producing excessive rainfall and flash flooding including over vegetation burn scar areas such as the Davis, Conner, Bear, Mill, Inn and Tamarack burn scars.
While Saturday and Sunday saw some rainfall around the capital city, other parts of the region did experience bursts of heavy rain, wind and thunderstorms.
The watch, which runs from noon to 9 p.m. Monday is for western Nevada, including the following areas, the greater Reno, Carson City and Carson Valley areas, the Lake Tahoe Basin, Washoe County, southern Lyon and Mineral counties and portions of California, including the following areas: Lassen, Eastern Plumas and Eastern Sierra counties and Mono County.

Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations including burn scars. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas.
For updates, check the National Weather Service website here. People living in these areas are advised to monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should flash flood warnings be issued.
