The Lyon County Board of Commissioners will be presenting the fiscal year 2019 budget April 4-5 in Yerington.

County Manager Jeff Page and Comptroller Josh Foli have met with all elected and appointed officials/directors, and developed a budget that includes the following:

A recommendation to add 11.7 new positions, including:

— Code Enforcement Officer
— Administrative Assistant for the Community Development (Planning/Building) Dept.
— Deputy District Attorney-Civil Division
— Office Assistant for the District Court (1 year employment only)
— Juvenile Probation Officer
— 9-1- 1 Public Safety Dispatchers
— Jail Sergeant
— Jail Deputy
— 0.7 Library Assistant
— Water Technician (Utilities)
— Operations Manager (Utilities)

The recommended budget has been prepared with the following salary increases:

— 1.5% salary table adjustment in July 2018 for all Lyon County employees, pursuant to collective bargaining agreements. Updated Management Pay Plan ranges based on comparison study by Human Resources.

— 2.5% merit/longevity increases effective on anniversary dates, pursuant to collective bargaining agreements.

Capital Improvements and one time funding expenditures:

— Upgrades to Assessor/Clerk Treasurer Software: $393,000
— Low-boy Transport Trailer: $105,000
— Demolition of former Public Safety Building, Parking improvements and design
— District Attorney Offices at Justice Complex: $2,136,294
— Fernley Senior Center/Human Services Offices: $6,000,000 ($3,000,000 of which is grant funded)
— Dayton Government Complex: $4,949,368
— Replace 1973 Kenworth Tractor: $140,000
— New water well: $1,490,392
— Replace Sewer Lift Station and 24-inch gravity main: $5,422,000
— Sewer Rapid Infiltration System $1,016,000
— Replacement/New Vehicles $347,700 (five for Sheriff’s Office and three for Human
Services)

The Lyon County Manager and Comptroller will begin budget presentations on April 4 at 9 a.m. at the Board of County Commissioners, 27 South Main Street in Yerington.

Each elected and appointed department may be present to address any questions or concerns.
