The Carson City School District is proud to recognize Tony Zarazua and Dennis Smith with Nature’s Bakery, and Josh Costa with Tahoe Knight Monsters as April’s Community Partners of the Month. Nature’s Bakery was recognized as an Ambassador Level partner at Carson Middle School, and the Tahoe Knight Monsters were recognized as a Champion Level partner at Eagle Valley Middle School.
As part of its Community Partner Program, the school district features a local business or organization each month for their commitment in helping schools and children have better opportunities and experiences in alignment with the district’s Strategic Plan goals.
Nature’s Bakery is considered a Community Partner on the Ambassador Level at Carson Middle School because they support two or more Strategic Plan goals regularly, including providing necessary resources including 100 45-piece school supplies to teachers and classrooms (Goal 2); and understanding that nourishment assists kids in concentrating, learning and flourishing by providing 500 snack bars to students (Goal 4).

The Tahoe Knight Monsters are considered a Community Partner on the Champion Level at Eagle Valley Middle School because they support three or more Strategic Plan goals regularly, including increasing retention of exceptional personnel and celebrating teachers by offering tickets at a discounted price (Goal 1); personalizing student learning opportunities by offering two (2) hockey tickets to a total of 116 students (plus one parent/guardian) who made two grade improvements from the first quarter (Goal 2); and scheduling a time to bring hockey players to Eagle Valley Middle School to discuss with students the importance of school and being physically active (Goal 4).
The Community Partner Recognition System aims to build a stronger, more engaged community dedicated to the success and well-being of its students. Additionally, it acknowledges and celebrates the valuable contributions of our community partners as they align with the goals found in the Carson City School District Strategic Plan Empower Carson City 2027.
- Goal 1: Exceptional Staff
- Goal 2: Curriculum that Matters
- Goal 3: Engaged Parents and Families
- Goal 4: Healthy Generations of Carson Students
- Goal 5: Community in Full Partnership
The school district looks forward to continuing these valuable partnerships and encourages other community members and businesses to consider how they can contribute to the success of students.
