King of the Cage, the legendary fight promotion that has produced UFC stars like Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, Forrest Griffin, and Daniel Cormier, brought its high-octane action to Reno this past Saturday. Carson City was well represented, as two local fighters, Zenon Foster and Alex “New Era” Rivera, made spectacular debuts, each walking away with dominant victories.
Zenon Foster Wins Muay Thai Thriller
Zenon Foster, wearing white trunks, faced off against Reno’s Mico Rodriguez, who sported red and black shorts, in a fast-paced Muay Thai showdown. Zenon quickly took control of the fight, landing a powerful knee to Mico’s body that sent him to the canvas early in the first round. But Mico wasn’t done yet — he responded with a hard right hand that knocked Zenon down, making for an action-packed opening round that had the crowd on the edge of their seats.
The second round saw more intense exchanges, but Zenon’s relentless pressure paid off. Another crushing knee from Foster stopped Mico in his tracks, prompting the referee to call the fight. Zenon secured a TKO victory, marking an explosive start to his KOTC career.
Alex “New Era” Rivera Secures Submission Victory
Alex Rivera, in red trunks, faced Sacramento’s Yona Yohannes wearing black and gold trunks , a dangerous opponent known for his recent knockout win. The bout started cautiously, with both fighters testing range and timing. Late in the first round, Alex secured a key takedown, giving him the upper hand heading into round two.
In the second round, after trading kicks, Alex pushed the action, taking Yona down against the cage. Rivera delivered heavy strikes before Yona attempted to escape by rolling to his stomach. Alex capitalized on the opening, sinking in a tight choke and forcing Yona to tap out, earning the victory by submission.
Carson City’s Future Stars
Both Zenon Foster and Alex Rivera showcased skill, determination, and heart in their King of the Cage debuts. Their performances not only earned them hard-fought victories but also brought pride to Carson City, highlighting the growing talent coming out of the local fight scene.
As King of the Cage continues its tradition of developing top-tier talent, fans in Carson City will surely be keeping a close eye on Foster and Rivera, who look destined for bigger stages in the future.
