Meet Mopsy – A Special Wobble Cat Looking for Love!

Flopsy Mopsy is a one-of-a-kind, loving young cat looking for a forever home that will cherish her for the incredible girl she is.

Originally rescued as a kitten in August 2022 from a river in Battle Mountain, Mopsy has grown into a friendly, affectionate companion who loves people, including respectful children. She enjoys playtime, snuggles, and has an especially close bond with her current caretaker’s special needs son—often sleeping beside him for comfort.

Mopsy is a “wobble cat”, meaning she has a condition called Cerebellar Hypoplasia (CH)—a neurological disorder that affects balance and coordination.

CH occurs when the part of the brain that controls movement (the cerebellum) doesn’t fully develop, typically due to exposure to illness in the womb. The severity can vary.

Mopsy has a moderate case and she has learned to compensate in her own unique way.

She uses a litter box with high sides to help with stability and eats well with a little assistance to keep her steady, and she loves to hunt that little red dot when it shows up near her. Her condition will not worsen.

Mopsy’s journey has been filled with both love and heartbreak. Due to the extremely limited veterinary resources in her rural community, she wasn’t able to be spayed when she should have been.

She eventually gave birth to one live kitten, but tragically, her baby did not survive for long. After this heartbreaking loss, Mopsy’s best-dog friend—who had once been her protector—began showing uncharacteristic aggression toward her.

Combined with the bullying from the family’s other cats, it became clear that Mopsy needed a safer, more understanding home.

She would thrive in a calm, patient environment with gentle, friendly cats or a dog that is known to be good with feline companions. Because of her experiences, she is understandably timid around animals that are too hyper or aggressive.

Mopsy will steal your heart. She has an unstoppable spirit, a loving heart, and a determination to live her best life. If you’re ready to open your heart and home to a truly special cat, Mopsy will be waiting to meet you!

She will arrive from Battle Mountain on Saturday, and we are anxiously waiting to meet her! Reach out to Catmandu today by texting momcat@catmduCC.org.

Help this incredible girl find the forever family she deserves. We are open Friday-Sunday from 11 am to 4 pm at 1829 Brown Street.

Catmandu is a local cage-free non-profit cat sanctuary and rescue. At Catmandu we care for an average of 65 cats that would otherwise be roaming the streets of Carson City. Some cats are adoptable and waiting for forever homes. Others are sanctuary cats who are very skittish with strangers, semi-feral or medically fragile felines; they will live most if not all of their remaining years at Catmandu.

All of our cats are spayed/neutered and up to date on their shots.

If you would like to volunteer and/or make a donation, please visit our website at: https://catmanducc.org.

We appreciate any help we receive from the community, so we can continue to care for Carson City’s orphaned, homeless and abandoned kitties.

Meow means thank you!
