Downtown Carson City streets were overflowing with people Saturday night during the 24th annual Taste of Downtown, the signature fundraising benefit for Advocates to End Domestic Violence (AEDV).

Volunteers at the AEDV information booth said about 1,500 tickets had been pre-sold prior to Saturday. But a long line of people waited early Saturday evening to purchase tickets the day of.

Dozens more tickets could have been sold to hungry guests by the end of the night.

AEDV Executive Director Lisa Lee told Carson Now last fall that she was hopeful Taste of Downtown would be bigger and better in 2017 with a much more pedestrian-friendly streetscape along the downtown corridor.

This year’s Taste of Downtown drew 42 participating restaurant vendors, five more than the 2016 event.

Although final numbers on what AEDV raises from the 2017 Taste of Downtown won’t be available for some time, the thousands of people attracted to downtown Carson City Saturday evening specifically for the event is a positive indicator that it was once again a success.

Around $60,000 was raised for AEDV from the 2016 Taste of Downtown.
