Christmas shoppers waiting until the last minute to find that perfect gift are in luck this year. The Nevada State Museum in Carson City is hosting Santa’s Last Stop Holiday Craft Fair Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 20-22, 2024.
A plethora of area makers will be showcasing their goods, so shoppers that prefer to give gifts made locally are sure to find something extra special. The craft fair begins Friday, Dec. 20 from 5-8 p.m. inside the Nevada State Museum and continues Saturday, Dec. 21, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Sunday, Dec. 22, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
“This event is a terrific opportunity to not only get a last-minute Christmas gift, but to get a special one made locally by artisans and crafters,” said Nevada State Museum Store Manager Cayce Weislow. “We carry a lot of local goods because we believe in supporting area small businesses and keeping our dollars in the community.”
Santa Claus will be on hand Saturday, Dec. 21 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Dema Guinn Concourse. Be sure to have your smartphone or camera handy for a selfie with jolly ol’ Saint Nick! Also happening Saturday is the Pines Are Fine holiday craft program for families in the second floor Auditorium from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Coin Press No. 1 will be minting its timeless Liberty Seated Commemorative Medallion, pressed with .999 fine native Nevada silver, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. as well.
The three-day shopping extravaganza will feature a raffle with prizes, food trucks on site in the front parking lot off Curry Street, and the Nevada State Museum Store is offering a special Buy One Get One Half Off Sale during all three days of the craft fair. (The sale does not include medallions or consignment items and applies to merchandise of equal or lesser value.)
Museum admission is $10 for adults, while members and children 17 and under are free. The Nevada State Museum is located at 600 N. Carson Street in Carson City with parking off Curry and Robinson streets.
