Carson City Fire Department, sheriff’s deputies and Care Flight were called Monday evening to a rollover crash in the upper area of Kings Canyon about a mile past the waterfall.
At around 8:30 p.m. dispatch received a 911 call from a person who said the vehicle they were in, occupied by three people, rolled at least three or four times down the canyon, with at least two reporting injuries.
Emergency personnel made their way up into the canyon, heavily rutted due to winter rains and had difficulty getting through the road. A Care Flight helicopter was able to spot the rolled vehicle in the canyon at around 9 p.m. Crews then made a transfer into a utility vehicle that could get through the rutted road areas.
As of around 9:10 p.m. the rescue crews were on their way to rescue those in the vehicle. At around 9:35 p.m. Care Flight had landed and made contact with the victims, according to dispatch. Search and Rescue has been called and a second Care Flight helicopter was ordered to land at Carson Middle School.
A RAVEN Helicopter from Washoe County has also been called to assist, if staffing is available, to hoist the victims out of the canyon.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
