A fundraiser for the inaugural Carl Howell Memorial Music Festival was held Saturday night at Jimmy G’s Cigar Bar in downtown Carson City. Those who participated purchased various adult beverages by the shot.

Proceeds earned during the fundraising event will go to help cover the costs of the music festival, the first year of which will be held this summer Aug. 19 at Battle Born Harley Davidson in Carson City.

A day-long event hosted by The Last Response Fund and organized to raise money in a trust fund for the children of fallen Carson City Sheriff’s Deputy Carl Howell, the Memorial Music Festival will feature a host of local, regional and national touring musicians, as well as celebrity guest appearances, a show and shine, motorcycle demonstrations, silent auction, food and drinks.

Howell was killed in the line of duty early in the morning on Aug. 15, 2015 while responding to a domestic violence call in East Carson City.
