UPDATE 8:32PM: Four vehicles were involved in the crash Tuesday afternoon that sent two to the hospital via Care Flight and one via ground ambulance. The vehicles involved were a 2007 Toyota Highlander, a 1996 Ford Windstar, a 2003 Buick Regal and a 1998 Peterbilt commercial truck.

Carson City Sgt. Scott McDaniel said the accident report explains that the driver of the Peterbilt truck rear-ended the Toyota Highlander that was stopped at a red traffic signal, which then caused a chain reaction of vehicle impacts. The driver of the 52,000 pound commercial vehicle was cited for failure to exercise due care.
The conditions of those injured is unknown.

UPDATE 1:18PM: Two people have been flown by Care Flight to Renown Medical Center following a traffic accident on Roop Street near Fairview. One person has been taken by ground ambulance to the hospital. Their conditions are unknown at this time.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.

Carson City Fire Department and sheriff’s deputies were called to a multi-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon in the northbound lane on Roop Street south of Fairview.

The crash was reported at 12:35 p.m. Dispatch advised the accident is a collision involving multiple vehicles and a commercial truck.

At least two people have suffered serious injuries and two Care Flight helicopters have been ordered. At least one person was being taken by ground ambulance.

The Nevada Highway Patrol is responding to the scene. Motorists are advised to stay clear of the area and to expect traffic delays.
