Hot chocolate, Santa, soup, and song made the annual Silver and Snowflakes Festival a success. The annual event co-sponsored by the Carson City Chamber of Commerce and the Redevelopment Committee brought young and old downtown to watch the Capitol light up.

A Christmas Fair in Telegraph Square featured entertainment by the Carson Middle School Band, the Carson High Chamber Choir, and the Youth Theater Carson City Showstoppers. Craft booths for the kids, vendors, and a roaming Grinch were all a part of the action. Santa’s appearance was the icing on the cake.

Around the corner at the First Presbyterian Church, the Third Annual Empty Bowls Soup Fest was in full swing. A fundraiser for Friends In Service Helping (FISH), Empty Bowls sends participants home with a full belly and a handcrafted bowl to keep. Local restaurants generously donated soup, chili, and even biscuits and gravy. The community’s donations to the raffle made it hard to decide where to put your tickets.

The Arlington Square Ice Rink offered free skating for kids under 12, and there were plenty who were glad to take them up on it. Smiles and good cheer were found all around, and holiday spirit was overflowing.
