The annual Pony Express re-ride is currently underway! Each year, old west mail enthusiasts don their red shirts, saddle up their horses and trace the original Pony Express route from California to Missouri. The ride takes ten days total, with riders riding both day and night.

The Pony Express hand-off in Carson City will take place at the corner of Curry Street and Second Street, in the lot of Bub’s Bookstore.

The hand-off was slated for 12:30, but riders on scene stated they are just a bit behind schedule at present. But horses and riders for the next leg are happy to chat with the dozen or so people gathered to watch the historic reenactment.

While the riders may be in the Old West, those of us living in 2026 can “Follow the Ride” and track the rider via a new tracking app. Check out the live tracker here.
