The next Carson City Board of Supervisors meeting will be held Thursday, Jan. 2, 2025, beginning at 8:30 a.m. in the Bob Crowell Board Room of the Community Center located at 851 E. William St. 

On this first agenda of the new year, Carson City Supervisors will hear:

— An interlocal agreement between Carson City and the Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District for TDFPD to burn hazardous fuel piles as part of the Secret Harbor Fuel Reduction Program will be discussed for a total not to exceed amount of $24,372. 

The US Forest Service granted Carson City $221,994 in federal funds for the project, which will reduce 40 acres of hazardous fuels in the Secret Harbor area. Carson City contracted with Summitt Forests, Inc. for the contract, who were able to complete everything except for the burning.

— Three members will be appointed to the Carson City Open Space Advisory Committee for a full term expiring in January 2029. A reappointment request was submitted by Mark Kimbrough. New applications were received from Charles Noury and Keith Shaffer.

— Appointments of members of the Board of Supervisors and other representatives to other boards, committees, and commissions will be held including: 

  • (1) the position of Mayor Pro Tempore on the Board of Supervisors; 
  • (2) the Carson City Regional Transportation Commission;
  • (3) the Carson City Audit Committee; 
  • (4) the Nevada Association of Counties; 
  • (5) the Nevada Association of Counties Alternate; 
  • (6) the Nevada League of Cities Board of Directors; 
  • (7) the Carson Water Subconservancy District; 
  • (8) Nevada Works; 
  • (9) the Carson City Airport Authority; 
  • (10) the Carson City Debt Management Commission;
  • (11) the Nevada Commission for the Reconstruction of the V&T Railway; 
  • (12) the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency; 
  • (13) the Nevada Tahoe Conservation District; and 
  • (14) the TRPA Advisory Planning Commission

The terms of Shelly Aldean, Kevin Hill and Doug Martin have expired on the TRPA, APC and NTCD, respectively. All are seeking reappointment to their positions.
