— A 46-year-old man, Lee Ross, was arrested Friday, Dec. 13 for suspicion of attempted robbery and trespassing.

According to the booking report, deputies were dispatched to a casino in the 1800 block of North Edmonds for an assault with a deadly weapon call. Dispatch was advised that a person pulled a knife out on a victim.

Deputies arrived and met with the victim who said he was sitting at a slot machine in the east side of a casino. He said he was approached by a male with a gray sweatshirt, gray sweatpants and black beanie.

The suspect was later identified as Lee Faron Ross. The victim said the man tried to sell him drugs but he told him no. He said the man then demanded that he buy $20 worth of drugs. The victim refused so he said the suspect pulled up the front of his shirt where he saw a silver knife sticking four inches above his waistline. The victim walked away and spoke with a casino employee and told them to contact law enforcement, the report states.

He said he saw the suspect exit the casino through the north door then re-entered and exited out of the southern door.

Based on a statement that the suspect exited through the northern door, the deputy made contact with security outside the casino who provided a picture of the suspect walking into the casino.

The deputy spoke with a casino employee who said the suspect was aggressive toward them and said they had to threaten the suspect to get him to leave him alone, the report states.

Dispatch sent a booking photo of the man, where the victim later identified him as the man who attempted to rob him, the report states.

Deputies spoke with a witness who wanted to remain anonymous who said the suspect walked up to him while sitting at a slot machine, asking him for $20. The witness described the man. The witness said he told the suspect he had no money and so he walked away. The witness saw the suspect walk up to another person, saw they were startled and walked away, the report states.

A casino employee said the suspect had been officially trespassed and provided two letters that were mailed to Lee Ross and signed by the general manager stating he was trespassed. The employee said he wanted to file charges against the man for trespassing and wrote a statement.

Deputies located Lee Ross and arrested him on Gordon Street. A black buck sheath was located on his person but did not have a knife. The man was taken to jail without incident.

After his arrest deputies canvassed the area to locate the knife. A vehicle approached with a male and female who identified themselves and said they had contact with the suspect.

They told deputies they said they heard someone knocking at their door. When they opened the door Lee Ross was outside and walked inside. They said they didn’t know who Lee Ross was but the man insisted that they had friends in common. They said the man showed them the black knife, describing the knife as silver with a black handle, remembering seeing a silver dagger. He asked if he could use the restroom, which they allowed. They said he began to act weirdly and scared them so they offered to drive him to the store so he could leave the property.

They said Lee Ross agreed but while he was walking out of the house he grabbed a cell phone from the center table. They told him that he grabbed their cell phone by mistake. He returned the phone. However, later as they were walking to the truck, they noticed another cell phone was missing, they called it and it rang in the suspect’s pocket. They told him to leave the property, where he left on foot and was located by deputies a short time later. They did not want to press charges.

They did not know where the suspect put the knife. Deputies checked their residence but did not locate the knife around the home. Officers checked the front driveway and located the silver buck knife with black handle, five feet behind the truck. It was submitted to the crime lab. The casino contacted deputies and advised a video was ready for pick-up. Deputies reviewed camera footage that showed the victim sitting at a slot machine, the suspect approaching standing next to him, then showed the suspect lift his shirt at the waist band.

The victim put their hands up and stood up and walked away with the suspect following. The suspect then walked away and to the northern exit. The video was submitted as evidence. Because the suspect was trying to take money away from the victim at the casino, intimidating him with force or violence by displaying the knife, he was booked for attempted robbery. Bail: $30,000.
