The Rotary Club of Carson City adopted 25 families from The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program this past Saturday December 13th. Each year for more than twenty years the Rotary Club of Carson City has been adopting families for Christmas as a mentoring program.
One child from each family is invited to go shopping with two Rotarians who spend time sharing the importance of education and other positive character building lessons. The child picks gifts for their family members, the Rotarian purchases the gifts, takes the child out to lunch, and then they all wrap the gifts together. Later the child is surprised to find that Santa has provided them with a gift as well.
This was the first year that the Rotary Club partnered with The Salvation Army. Both organizations are excited about this new partnership and look forward to future service together.
