St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Carson City is welcoming the Night Off the Streets (NOTS) warming center for the unhoused during December. The church is located at 1201 N. Saliman Rd.

More than 80 individuals slept in the warmth of St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church in November. A different Carson City church hosts the warming center each month through March.

Doors open at 9 p.m. each night, and the shelter closes at 6:30 a.m. each morning. Those sleeping in the center are encouraged to use shuttle transportation at 119 E. Long St. The shuttle picks up guests at 8:45 pm each night.

Since its inception in 2017, Night Off the Streets has evolved to offering homeless outreach services throughout the year, along with the Winter warming center. Lack of affordable housing is one reason the numbers of unhoused people are growing in Carson City, especially among the senior population.
