Every month, Carson City Park Rangers offer various ranger-led programs that include educational opportunities, historical fun and exciting adventures. All programs are offered for free and take place in one of the many capital city parks and open space areas.
Online registration is often required so Park Rangers have a proper head count. All programs are subject to cancellation due to Park Ranger availability; registered participants will be notified. You can find more information about each program here.
Galaxy Talk
Join the Carson City Park Rangers and Dr. Thomas Herring, Professor of Physics at WNC, for a star gazing event at Silver Saddle Ranch. Telescopes will be set up around the Red House area and staff will be around to instruct on our solar system, the Milky Way Galaxy and much more!
Stop by anytime between 6:30pm-7:30pm and remember to bring your questions and layers. NOTE: This program is weather dependent and will be cancelled due to inclement weather.

Holiday Hike
Lace up your hiking boots and get ready to join the Carson City Park Rangers for a festive holiday hike! This holly jolly hike encourages participants to wear their ugliest holiday sweater. We will be walking from Riverview Park to the Carson River while discovering the secrets of how wildlife prepares for the colder months ahead.
The trail is considered “easy” according to the IMBA and will be about two miles long. Expect flat terrain and minimal obstacles.
