The next Carson City Board of Supervisors meeting will be held Thursday, Dec. 5, beginning at 8:30 a.m. in the Bob Crowell Board Room of the Community Center located at 851 E. William St.

On the agenda:

— A final subdivision map will be presented to supervisors for Plateau Phase One, a merger and re-subdivision of 90 acres located south of Highway 50 E. at the end of Morgan Mill Road.

Phase one consists of 57 single family lots, common area, public right-of-way and seven parcels ranging in size from two to 17 acres on parcels zoned single family 6,000, public regional, multi-family apartments, and general commercial.

The tentative subdivision map for the Plateau development was first approved on Dec. 20, 2018 and in November 2022, supervisors granted a time extension until December 2024.

Since that time, the applicant has obtained a site improvement permit.

— Great Basin Brewing Co. is requesting a street closure for West Proctor on Dec. 16, 2024 to accommodate for Charlie Abowd’s Celebration of Life. If approved, the closure will begin at 2 p.m. and reopen at 9 p.m.

— Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space is requesting permission to submit a grant application to the Nevada Division of Forestry for the Nevada Shared Stewardship and Wildfire Crisis Strategy grant in an amount not to exceed $92,550 with a $4,406.85 match from the city.

This grant, if awarded, will be used to fund the next five years of the Carson City Hazardous Fuels Reduction Using Sheep Grazing project (Sheep Project). While a match is not required to apply, staff is seeking authorization to provide a 5% match if necessary to increase the city’s chance at receiving the funding.

— Supervisors will discuss two projects totaling around $1.65 million for new restroom structures at JohnD Winters Centennial Park and Mills Park.

The first is for a purchase from Public Restroom Company in an amount just shy of of $1.23 million for three prefabricated restroom buildings, two for Mills and one for Centennial.

The second is a contract with Coons Construction LLC. to demolish the current bathrooms and prepare the site for the new bathrooms for an amount of $427,500.

— On second reading, Supervisors will vote on an ordinance amending how the city treats wastewater. The EPA recently conducted an audit and found there were issues within the city’s treatment processes. This ordinance corrects those processes through an amendment of municipal code. The EPA approved the changes in September 2024.

— FISH (Friends in Service Helping) will host a presentation on the services offered by their nonprofit.

— As the Board of Health, the board will hear an update from Carson City Department of Health and Human Services Director Nicki Aaker on program highlights, statistics and reports as well as important news and challenges.

They’ll also hear about any challenges relating to hiring employees, and what CCHHS has done as part of their outreach within the community.

— At 5:30 p.m., Supervisors will hear an appeal regarding a treatment facility approved by the Planning Commission. For that story, see our previous reporting here:

The proposed facility is indicated by the red marker at 1625 Vista Ln.
