
Two were arrested Friday for suspicion of possession of a stolen vehicle and multiple drug offenses, according to a Carson City Sheriff’s Office Special Enforcement Team report.
Jenna Nicole Cordray, and Scott Edward Kunick were taken into custody following an investigation into a vehicle reported stolen from Redding, Calif. Both were booked for possession of a stolen vehicle and possession of a controlled substance.
The stolen vehicle was located in the parking lot of a casino. A deputy spoke with the female associated with the vehicle, who stated she didn’t know the vehicle was stolen and that it came front a rental company.
She gave deputies consent to search her purse. Inside the purse, a deputy located a notebook, with handwritten notes on it. One of the notes read: “rental car reported embezzled by rental company??? means” and another note read “can I get in more trouble for leaving Cali with the car” and a third note read “How serious is it if I don’t give back the car.” Deputies booked the notes into evidence, the report states.
Also inside the woman’s purse was a small baggie with an unknown substance. The woman told the officer it was fentanyl. The officer also located three glass methamphetamine pipes, one white pill identified as hydrocodone, 1.1 gram of methamphetamine in a plastic container and 1 gram of methamphetamine. Based on the information and what was found, she was arrested.
Kunick was located and detained at a business. He was read his rights and agreed to speak. He stated he rented the vehicle Oct. 15 and was supposed to return it Oct. 18. He stated the rental company did not give him a copy of the rental agreement.
He told the officer he originally rented the vehicle for two days. A deputy asked the man if it surprised him the vehicle was reported stolen. The man stated no, stating he was supposed to return it last week. He stated he did not return the vehicle because he started working. He told the officer he rented the vehicle and allowed the woman to drive it and he drove her vehicle. He stated he let her drive the rental because she had more things that would fit inside of the rental, the report states.
A detective informed the arresting officer that he located two broken methamphetamine pipes inside the vehicle while conducting an inventory. Based on the information, the man was arrested.
Cordray was booked for suspicion of possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail: $20,000.
Kunick was booked for suspicion of possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia Bail: $20,000.
In other arrests:
— A Reno woman was arrested Oct. 30, 6:34 p.m. in the area of Glenn and Wagner Drive for suspicion of disorderly conduct. The woman allegedly was screaming profanities and disturbing others in the neighborhood. When a deputy asked her to calm down, the woman continued to yell and said it was her right to use profanity, the arrest report states. During booking, the woman calmed down and apologized for her behavior. Bail: $242.
— A Carson City woman was arrested Oct. 30 for suspicion of DUI. According to the booking report, deputies responded to a non-injury crash involving a parked unoccupied vehicle. The woman initially denied having anything to drink that evening. The deputy observed the woman to have red, watery eyes and an alcohol odor coming from her person. She agreed to field sobriety tests and showed signs of impairment. She provided a preliminary breath test of .243 and was arrested. Bail: $1,137.
— A St. Petersburg, Florida man, Robert Francis Matthews, was arrested Oct. 30 for suspicion of felony possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and a misdemeanor warrant issued out of East Fork Township Court. $2,798.
— A Carson City man was arrested Oct. 29 for suspicion of gross misdemeanor false imprisonment and misdemeanor domestic battery. According to the booking report, the man allegedly struck the female victim in the face and head and broke her cell phone so that she was unable to call for help. The victim stated she attempted to leave the apartment to get help but the man blocked the only door to the apartment and would not let her leave, and placed his hand over her mouth to prevent her from screaming for help, the arrest report states.
A deputy observed the woman had red swollen eyes, and bruising around her eyes and on the bridge of her nose and had dried blood on the edges of her mouth. The victim was also missing her two front upper teeth. A deputy asked what happened. The victim stated the man had knocked out her teeth in a prior incident, the report states.
A deputy continued to investigate the matter and interviewed a person who the woman reportedly contacted to use a phone to call for help. The deputy also met with the suspect who denied the confrontation was physical and claimed he injured his hand after punching a wall. The deputy observed what appeared to be smudge marks on the wall and did not see any holes or divot damage to the wall where the man stated he punched the wall. The man was arrested for the alleged crimes. Bail: $5,637.
— A Mound House man, Andrew Angulo-Moreira, was arrested Oct. 30 for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, a felony and misdemeanor suspicion of DUI alcohol. According to the booking report, deputies responded to a vehicle single vehicle that crashed into the center median on Highway 50 East approaching Flint Drive.
Deputies located the vehicle and the sole occupant. He told deputies he wanted to be honest and said he had a few beers that night. The officer observed the man had slow speech and red, watery eyes and had a smell of alcohol coming from his person.
The man said he did not need medical attention. He agreed to standardized field sobriety tests and showed signs of impairment. He provided a preliminary breath test of .178 and was arrested for suspicion of DUI.
At jail booking the man told the officer he wanted to be honest and said he had a Xanax bar and Oxycodone pill in his right front sock. The officer had him sit down, where his shoe and sock was removed, and the drugs were collected. Bail: $3,637.
— A Roseville, Calif., man, Xavier Castaneda, was arrested Oct. 29 for a felony fugitive from justice warrant issued out of Placer County, Calif., Superior Court. No bail hold.
— A Carson City man was arrested Oct. 29, for suspicion of DUI and violation of bail conditions. According to the booking report, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy attempted to make traffic stop on a vehicle unable to maintain its travel lane.
The vehicle continued and did not pull over after the deputy activated their overhead lights. The vehicle eventually stopped and the officer made contact with the driver and asked him why he didn’t stop. The man stated he just wanted to make it home, the report states.
While talking, the officer could smell a strong odor of alcohol coming from his person as well as watery eyes and slurred speech. The officer could see a small empty vodka bottle in the driver door. The man had a very noticeable sway and used the vehicle to help hold himself up, the report states. The man agreed to field sobriety tests and showed signs of impairment. He provided a preliminary breath test of .285 and was arrested. He was also booked for violation of bail conditions from a DUI arrest in August 2021, the report states. Bail: $4,137.
