Join Virginia City in celebrating the 160th anniversary of Nevada the way the state’s founders would have with the annual Nevada Statehood Ball on Saturday, Nov. 2, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Hosted at Piper’s Opera House, this elegant evening honors Nevada’s heritage and invites attendees to celebrate together by enjoying live music by Renegade Orchestra, light hors d’oeuvres and dancing.
Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. Guests are highly encouraged to don 19th-century or modern formal attire. For more information and to purchase tickets for the event, head here.
“We are thrilled to celebrate our state, its history and the amazing cultures that have helped shape Nevada through the Statehood Ball,” said Todd Tuttle, tourism director. “In addition to fantastic live music, food, dancing and more, this is a night to recognize our state’s storied history and bright future.”
The Nevada Statehood Ball is a cherished tradition that brings together the community to commemorate the Silver State’s journey from its mining roots to modern-day prosperity. In addition to historical music performed by Renegade Orchestra, this event gives attendees the opportunity to engage in popular Victorian Era dances; just like a favorite historical drama. Prior dancing experience is not necessary as a dance master will guide attendees through the routines.
Additionally, a photographer with a historical camera that produces hand-crafted photos on metal known as tintypes will be present throughout the evening. Guests wanting to pose for and purchase a tintype are encouraged to reserve their spot in advance with the link on the ticketing platform as appointments are limited.
