The biggest high school rivalry in Nevada made a feature presentation at Carson High School Tuesday as the girls soccer teams of the Douglas Tigers and Carson Senators made battle on the pitch. The Tigers have not lost or tied a game yet this season and extended their winning streak tonight to 21-0-0. They are the obvious number one seed going into play offs and statistically most likely to go to state, but only time will tell who is going for sure.

The first half started in a deadlock possession battle. It wasn’t until the 26th minute that an actually promising shot got off and it came from the Douglas squad but snapped off the left goal post and bounced away. The 34th minute Carson was leading a promising attack, but was stopped in the box on a very questionable no call by the referee which would have gave Carson a penalty. In the 37th minute Douglas put up a perfect pass through the middle of the field but again couldn’t find the back of the net. The third time would be the charm for Douglas with a very eye pleasing combination that would end with a strike to find the back of the net and give the Tigers the lead in stoppage time. The 1-0 scoreline would remain going into the first half.

The second half started off similar to the first with a heated possession battle. This time it would be the Senators; however, that would get the first break away in the 67th minute but the strike went straight to the Douglas keeper and she was able to hang on to save the goal. In the very last seconds of the game, Douglas found the back of the net and immediately following the goal was the final whistle. The final score of this contest was Douglas: 2, Carson: 0.

The Senators next game will be Tuesday, November 4th. Although it is not yet official who the Senators will play, they will play at their opponents home field.
