Nevada gained 3,600 jobs in September, adding back the jobs that were lost in August, according to the state’s Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation’s monthly economic report.

Employment is up 66,600 jobs over the year, an annual increase of 4.8 percent. The total employment level in the state is 1,463,100.

The state’s unemployment rate in September is 4.4 percent, unchanged from 4.4 percent in August and down 1.2 percentage points when compared to September 2021.

Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) Employment (Seasonally Adjusted):

— Carson City employment had an increase of 100 jobs (0.3%) since August, an increase of 900 jobs (2.9%) since September 2021.

— Reno employment had an increase of 1,900 jobs (0.7%) since August, an increase of 11,600 jobs (4.7%) since September 2021.

“Today’s report shows a bounce back from last month’s decline, bouncing back to essentially the same level of employment we reported for July 2022. The unemployment rate remained unchanged at 4.4 percent for the third month in a row, but this happened despite an increase in the labor force participation rate from 60.3 to 60.6 percent as nearly 10,000 more people were working or looking for work in September,” said David Schmidt, Chief Economist.
