A 30-year-old man was arrested Tuesday for suspicion of misdemeanor domestic battery, according to a Carson City Sheriff’s Office booking report.

A deputy responded at 11:27 a.m. to a residence for a report of domestic battery. The deputy spoke with a woman who stated the man started an altercation and hit a beer bottle from the counter, hitting her forehead. The deputy observed a bump with a small scratch on the center right of her forehead that was consistent with her story, the report states.

The victim also stated that she told the man she was going to call law enforcement. When she attempted to call 911, she said he took her phone and threw it off the balcony, preventing her from calling. She stated after he left the apartment complex, she had a neighbor call 911 for her.

The victim believed the man was at a nearby apartment. The deputy went to the apartment and saw the resident walking up the stairs. The deputy asked if he lived in the apartment and if the man was inside. The resident said he was. The officer asked if he would have the man come down to talk with him. He said yes.

The deputy spoke with the man, who stated that he and the woman had been together for a couple years and that they had been arguing. The deputy asked him to explain what happened with the the beer bottle to which he stated the woman was not supposed to be drinking so he hit the beer bottle off of the table. The officer asked if the beer bottle hit the woman. He stated it just landed on the floor.

Due to the injuries of the woman being consistent with being struck with a beer bottle and the man admitting to hitting the beer bottle off the counter, he was arrested for suspicion of domestic battery and preventing/dissuading a witness from calling 911. Bail: $7,500.
