Nevada Department of Corrections officials are investigating the slaying of inmate Saturday morning forcing the lockdown of the prison near Carson City.
The dead inmate was discovered by prison staff who tried to revive him, according to the Nevada Department of Corrections news release. A coroner from the Carson City sheriff’s office was called to the scene.
The NNCC facility on Snyder Avenue is currently on lock-down status and will remain so until normal operations are reinstated. No visitors are allowed. The investigation is ongoing. No other details were available.
NNCC is a medium custody facility and also serves as the intake center for the Northern region.
