
The Carson City School District and Nevada Health Centers announced that it will open a new school-based health center on Musser Street behind the Professional Development Center, formerly Gleason Elementary School.
To facilitate the opening, there were be a ribbon cutting celebration Thursday with the Carson City Chamber of Commerce and officials from the Carson City School District and Nevada Health Centers Tours and refreshments will be provided. The event begins at 8:30 a.m. This center is located at 618 W. Musser Street.
“We are pleased to provide a school-based health center to our students and families through a partnership with Nevada Health Centers,” said Richard Stokes, Carson City superintendent of schools. “We are excited to see this project become a reality in our community and have already had a tremendous response from families making appointments at the new health center.”
Services that will be available include: preventive health and wellness, well child checks, sick visits, sports physicals, immunizations and health management.
“Nevada Health Centers is pleased to have the opportunity to provide expanded access to family healthcare in the Carson City area,” said Marena Works, director of operations. “The need for family healthcare is continuing to grow in our community and this new school-based health center will provide a convenient option and access to high quality patient-centered care.”
The center will be open on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Appointments can be made by calling 1-800-787-2568.
