Last year, for the first time in living memory, the Nevada Day Parade had to be cancelled in order to safeguard the health of our community.
This year, due to so many Nevadans choosing to become vaccinated and the lifting of certain mandates from Gov. Steve Sisolak, the Nevada Day Parade will continue as planned.
The parade, events and activities will take place Saturday, Oct. 30. The state holiday of Nevada Day will be observed Friday, Oct. 29.
The theme this year is “Historic Moments in Nevada.”
However, it’s always important to note that Nevada became a state on Oct. 31, 1864, so feel free to celebrate our statehood the whole weekend through!
Festivities will kick off (weather dependent) at 8 a.m. on Parade Day with the launching of the hot air balloons, followed by the 10 a.m. flyover and the beginning of the parade.
The rock drilling competition should begin at 11 a.m., followed by the Chili Feed at the Carson City Nugget from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.
The parade should be winding down around 2:30 p.m., coinciding with the Beard Contest at the same time.
The after party begins at 4 p.m. on Curry Street.
