A 38-year-old man was arrested Tuesday for suspicion of gross misdemeanor obstructing an officer, preventing or dissuading a witness from testifying and a misdemeanor bench warrant, according to a Carson City Sheriff’s Office booking report.

According to the report, deputies were called Tuesday, 10:37 p.m. regarding a report of an individual with a warrant who was violating Department of Alternative Sentencing conditions by being outside his wife’s apartment.

Dispatch advised the man had a warrant issued Sept. 20, and one of the terms of his release by DAS was to not contact his wife or be near her residence. The man’s wife contacted dispatch to inform them her husband was in the parking lot outside of her home.

Deputies arrived on scene and saw the man in the parking lot on Long Street. The suspect saw the officers and took off running, leading to a foot pursuit. The suspect was located and taken into custody across from a restaurant on William Street.

During the investigation, officers learned the man allegedly attempted to dissuade his wife from testifying against him, by contacting her in person and in text, saying she needed to either ignore her subpoena to testify against him or to change her testimony. He was booked for the alleged offenses. Bail: $6,911.

In other arrests:
— A 40-year-old Carson City woman, Melissa Luana Carter, was arrested Tuesday for a felony fugitive from justice warrant issued out of Fresno County, Calif. She was booked on a “no-bail” hold, awaiting extradition.

— A 27-year-old Dayton woman was arrested Tuesday for a misdemeanor warrant out of Carson City Justice Court, alleging violation of a suspended sentence and for misdemeanor suspicion of possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail: $4,137.

— A 64-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday for suspicion of petit larceny. According to the booking report, a deputy was dispatched to a gas station, convenience store in the 1100 block of North Carson Street in reference to a petit larceny report.

As one officer was going to the convenience store, dispatch advised the suspect was walking northbound on Curry Street toward Fleischmann Way. He was located by a deputy in the area.

Deputies learned the suspect allegedly stole two Mike’s Hard Black Cherry 16-ounce alcoholic beverages, and one Red Bull, 8.4 ounce beverage. A deputy watched surveillance footage and observed the man take the alcohol and Red Bull beverages. The man was identified and booked for suspicion of shoplifting. Bail: $352.
