Here is this week’s Carson City area road report for Sept. 12-18, 2016: Work will continue on the Downtown Corridor improvement project on Carson Street. The following streets will be impacted:

— Monday: Carson Street will be closed from John Street to Sophia. William Street will be closed between Plaza and Curry beginning at 6 a.m. William Street may re-open early afternoon and at that time Washington will be closed both east and west one block with Carson Street open.

Tuesday: Washington Street will remain closed.

Wednesday and Thursday: Carson Street will be closed between Robinson and 5th. All side streets between Robinson and 5th will be closed, including Musser.

Friday and Saturday: Carson Street will be closed from John Street to the north of Musser from 6 a.m., Friday to 6 a.m., Saturday. All side streets between John Street and Musser will also be closed.

Meanwhile, there will be lane closures on Highway 395 between Clear Creek Avenue and Snyder Avenue on northbound lanes between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Lane closures with traffic controls are at the following locations due to utility/road work:

— Bigelow Drive will be closed to through traffic at Snyder Avenue, Thursday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
— Center Drive at the intersection of Topsy Lane, Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
— Eagle Station Lane, Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
— Colorado Street between Woodcrest Lane and Roop Street, Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
— Fairview Drive between Fifth Street and S. Lompa Lane, Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Road closures expected at the following locations due to utility and road work. Please follow detours:
— Topsy Lane between Center Drive and U.S. 395, Monday through Sunday, for all hours, local traffic only.
— Intersection of Colorado Street and Baker Drive will be closed Thursday and Friday 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
— Intersection of Baker Drive and Stafford Way will be closed Thursday and Friday 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The following Caltrans roadwork applies to Lake Tahoe and Sierra area roadways for the week of Sept. 11-17, 2016.

State Route 89 (Placer County): Work continues on a $70.1 million project from Tahoma to just north of Granlibakken Road in Tahoe City that is upgrading storm water drainage and treatment systems, adding curb and gutter, resurfacing and realigning the road, adding new left-turn pockets and widening shoulders on an 8-mile stretch of the highway. Completion is expected by summer 2017.

State Route 89 (Placer County) from Blackwood Creek Road to Sugar Pine Road: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control around the clock from 10 p.m. Sunday to noon Friday for drainage and curb and gutter work. Motorists also can expect one-way traffic control from Spruce Avenue to Sequoia Avenue North from 10 p.m. Sunday to 6 a.m., Monday and 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., Monday through Friday for roadway excavation and from Middle Sequoia Avenue to Sequoia Avenue North from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday through Friday for landscape work.

Those hoping to take a leisurely late summer, early drive around Lake Tahoe’s iconic Emerald Bay during the next couple of weeks will experience delays and detours because of a construction project set to begin Monday.

Caltrans will perform a full roadway closure of State Highway 89 near South Lake Tahoe from just south of the Cascade Creek Bridge to Bayview Campground and Inspiration Vista Point.

State Route 89 (El Dorado County): Work continues on a $13 million water quality improvement project from Cascade Road to the Eagle Falls Viaduct over Emerald Bay. The project is constructing new drainage facilities to treat stormwater runoff and repaving a four-mile section of the highway. Completion is expected in summer 2017.

State Route 89 (El Dorado County) from Cascade Road to Bayview Campground/Vista Point: Motorists can expect a full highway closure from 4 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday for grinding and paving work. Motorists also can expect one-way traffic control in this area from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Thursday for grinding and paving.

State Route 89 (El Dorado County): Work continues on a $25 million project from the “Y” junction with U.S. Highway 50 in South Lake Tahoe to Cascade Road, north of Camp Richardson. Curb, gutter and sidewalks will be added in the 1.1-mile four-lane section, and the highway will be widened in the two-lane section to Visitor Center Road to provide 4-foot paved shoulders on each side. Drainage systems are also being built and the roadway is being resurfaced. Completion is expected this fall.

State Route 89 (El Dorado County) from 5th Street to West Way: Northbound and southbound motorists can expect the #2 lane closed from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. for shoulder work. Motorists also can expect one-way traffic control from West Way to Cascade Road from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Thursday 6 a.m. to 11 a.m., Friday for paving.

State Route 28 (Placer County): Work continues on Placer County’s $50 million Kings Beach Commercial Core Improvement Project from State Route 267 to Chipmunk Street. Highway work includes installing curb and gutter, sidewalks, roundabouts, lighting and drainage systems to enhance pedestrian and bicycle mobility, improve safety and provide water-quality improvements.

State Route 28 (Placer County) from Beach Avenue to Deer Street: Eastbound motorists can expect shoulder closures from 7 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday for utility work. Eastbound motorists also can expect shoulder closures from Fox Street to Beaver Street from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday and westbound motorists from 8 p.m. Thursday to 6 a.m., Friday and from 7 a.m. to noon Friday for utility work.

State Route 49 (El Dorado County) from Saint Florian Court to Borland Street/Lincoln Way: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations from 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday for guardrail repairs.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) at Red Hawk Drive: Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect alternating lane closures from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Friday for bridge work.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from Bedford Avenue to Canal Street: Westbound motorists can expect the #2 lane closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Friday for pavement work.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) at Schnell School Road: Eastbound motorists can expect the #2 lane closed from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and 5 a.m. to noon Thursday and Friday for bridge work. Westbound motorists can expect the #1 lane closed from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 5 p.m. to midnight Friday for bridge work.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) at Sawmill Road: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 8 p.m. to 10 a.m. Monday through Saturday for bridge work.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from Truckee Drive to River Drive and from Trout Creek to Tulare Avenue/Al Tahoe Boulevard: Motorists should expect lane restrictions around the clock from 9 p.m., Sunday to 7 a.m. Friday for paving work.

State Route 89 (Placer County) from Trout Street to Cherry Street in Homewood: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., Friday for bridge work and roadway excavation on a multi-use path extension.

State Route 89 (Placer County) from Twin Crags Drive in Tahoe City to Alpine Meadows Road: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 10 p.m. Sunday to 6 a.m., Monday and from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., Monday through Friday for pavement work.

State Route 89 (Placer County) from Alpine Meadows Road to the Truckee River Bridge: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday for bridge work.

State Route 193 (El Dorado County) at the South Fork of the American River/Chili Bar: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday for bridge work.

State Route 267 (Placer County) from Martis Creek Bridge to the Ranger Station road: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday for pavement work.

Interstate 80 (Placer County) from Brace Road to Magra Road: Work continues on a $36 million project to increase the vertical clearance of nine bridge structures in south Placer County to 16 feet, 6 inches. The vertical clearance will be increased on seven structures by lifting the existing bridge deck and the other two will have the roadway below dug down.

Interstate 80 (Placer County) from Sierra College Boulevard to Newcastle Road: Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect alternating lane closures and on-ramp closures from 10 p.m. to 9 a.m. Sunday through Saturday for bridge and paving work, specifically the Newcastle Road ramps. Motorists also can expect occasional one-way traffic control from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday on the Gilardi, Horseshoe Bar, Penryn and Newcastle overcrossings for bridge work.

Interstate 80 (Placer County) from Long Ravine underpass to .2 miles east of Magra Road overcrossing: Roadwork begins for the 2.5 year, $50.6 million project to construct 3 miles of additional truck climbing lane and other improvements to primarily eastbound I-80 east of Colfax including widening the Cape Horn undercrossing bridge.

Interstate 80 (Placer County) at the Cape Horn Undercrossing Bridge: Motorists can expect one way traffic controls for around-the-clock alternating lane closures from June 20 throughout the summer for bridge work.

State Route 49 (Sierra County) south of Indian Valley Road: Emergency roadwork will be closing one lane from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. until September 23 for retaining wall construction.

State Route 49 (Sierra County) from Nevada Drive to Yuba Pass: Motorists can expect one way traffic controls from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday Sept. 12-15 for miscellaneous work.

State Route 49 (Sierra County) from Yuba Pass to Vista Point: Motorists can expect one way traffic controls from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday Sept. 12 for maintenance operations.

Interstate 80 – Eastbound (Nevada County) from Farad Undercrossing to Sierra County line: Motorists can expect right lane and shoulder closure from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday Sept. 12 for shoulder work.

Interstate 80 – Westbound (Placer County) from Bowman undercrossing to Russell Road overcrossing: Motorists can expect right lane and shoulder closures from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday Sept. 12 for guardrail repair.

Interstate 80 – Westbound (Placer County) from Alta Road undercrossing to Sawmill overcrossing: Motorists can expect right lane and shoulder closures from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday Sept. 12-15 for drainage work.

State Route 89 (Placer County) from 0.5 miles north of SR 28 to Alpine Meadows Road: Motorists can expect overnight alternating one way traffic controls for lane and shoulder closures from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 11 through 6 a.m., Friday, September 16 for highway construction.

State Route 89 (Nevada County) from Klondike Flat Road to Sierra County line: Motorists can expect one way traffic controls from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday Sept. 13-15 for curb/gutter/sidewalk work.

State Route 193 (Placer County) from Fowler Road to Rainbow Valley Lane: Motorists can expect around the clock, 24-hour one way traffic control and right shoulder restrictions from 6 a.m., Sunday, Sept. 11 to 6 a.m. Saturday, September 17, for highway construction.
